It's for the birds...

One of the reasons I LOVE living where I live is because of the wonderful bird population out here.

Today I was outside in my garden "Skype-ing" with my friend, LisaY, who lives in France. (Click HERE for my blog post about LisaY and me...) While sitting there, a wonderful little hummingbird flew into my garden and started visiting each of my salvia plants. I grabbed my camera and took a shot, hoping that I got it enough in focus. Luckily, it came out great, and so I did a little bit of photo magic on it to bring the focus more onto the little bird rather than the background:

I LOVE the wonderful creatures that show up in my garden.  A few days ago, two doves (Lovey Dovies) sat for 3 hours on my little garden bench, cooing and snuggling up to each other.  It was beautiful.  Here are some photos:

We also often have birds use our rock fountain for a drinking fountain/bird bath.  Why someone would want to drink their bath water, I don't know, but these birds seem to enjoy it:

And then, finally (at least for now) I captured a photo of a female cardinal while on my walk the other day.  (This is also posted on a previous post.)  Now, I just have to catch a picture of her husband!

I'll be sure to post more as I see 'em comin'!

The Passion Flower (Passiflora)

I am SO glad that I got my first blooms of the Passion Flower came out this morning!  This is one of my most favorite flowers of all.

The Passion Flower (or Passiflora) is the plant from which the Passion Fruit is born.  It is called the "Passion" flower because it is refering to the passion of Jesus.   Here is a quote from Wikipedia:  "Spanish Christian missionaries adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus and especially his crucifixion."

Enjoy the views I have posted of these beautiful flowers!

I'm going on a walk...

One of the things I like the most about living in a subtropical area, is how early things start blooming.  My morning walks are just PERFECT and filled with some unbelievable aromas -- the GOOD kind!

Come along and enjoy the scenery along with my on my morning walk!

I'm home now!  Thanks for joining me!
