A Cardinal's Song

Ok.  I finally did it.  I captured the illusive Red Cardinal in action.  I LOVE Cardinals, and I hear them singing (maybe it's only one in particular) every morning outside my window (or from my roof) before the sun comes out, so I've not been able to grab some good photos!

But, this morning, I was at the right place at the right time (and had my camera, and was "stalking" them).  However, the cardinals were NOT in my yard, but in the neighbors.  What's up with THAT?  Well, regardless, the stalking can come in handy and I got some great shots. (unless you are wanting to be in a relationship and end up being "the stalker" -- not good.).

I also got a shot of TWO Red Cardinals.  I know that birds often come in pairs, but these are TWO MALES....  I did see what the commotion was about, as there was a female in this same general location shortly after I took this shot... Can we say "competition?"

Anyway, if you have never heard a cardinal sing, listen to this video.

I had a little red fellow come sit next to me in my Vitex (Texas Chaste Tree)Saturday evening. I felt so special for that brief moment. Thanks for the video of the song.

Hello T.K.
I'm finally finding some time to visit my favorite blogs again after a week full of hectic and stress.
A week before last Friday we had a water leak in the attic of our kitchen. That night at 3:00 a.m a loud noise woke us up from our beauty sleep just to find out our 4ft kitchen light fixture hit the ground hard while water was dripping through the ceiling. What a nice surprise! Now finally everything is back in order and we just finished up putting the last few things back in place. Your blog was the one I wanted to read first. :)

Anyway, back to your post and the nice pictures. I also have some Cardinals in my backyard coming to my bird feeders and taking baths in my birdbaths. Somehow I just never get a good chance to take some really good pictures of them. Have you ever noticed, there are almost always a male and a female Cardinal together? If the female is feeding or taking a bath, the male is always somewhere close around, watching her and keeping an eye on the area so nothing bad could happen to his "princess".
They are really amazing and beautiful birds.

The other day I saw for the first time in several years some Orioles taking a bath. As far as I know, we don't have them around here and I guess they had a quick stop over on their migrating trip up North.
Regards
Paula Jo
